Friends of the Nevada State Museum

Created as a 501(c)(3) organization on June 14, 1972, under Chapter 81 of the Nevada Revised Statutes, the Friends of the Nevada State Museum supports the programs, staffing, and activities of the Nevada State Museum, Carson City. Our goal is to support the Museum’s mission of presenting Nevada’s heritage to diverse audiences through exhibits, educational programs, publications, and research.

Any individual interested in the purposes of the Friends of the NSM is eligible for membership and must also be an active member of the Nevada State Museum. General Membership meetings of the corporation are held in March, May, September, and November. The May meeting serves as the annual meeting of the General Membership.

Under an approved set of Bylaws, the business of the Friends is conducted by the Board of Trustees. The Board meets monthly and consists of the five elected officers of the corporation, the appointed Standing Committee chairs, and the immediate past-chair. The officers are elected for one (1) year terms with re-election not to exceed two (2) consecutive years. The Director of the Nevada State Museum also serves as a non-voting ex-officio member.
